Demos still go out as MP3 because MP3 never fails: every phone, browser, car and venue laptop of the last two decades plays it without a plugin. From an uncompressed AIFF, the encoder here produces a 320 kbps MP3, the format's ceiling, at about a tenth of the source size. Musicians care where session audio travels, and here it travels nowhere: the encode is done by your browser, on your computer, with trim if you need it.

IdenticalNoticeably degradedWhat most listeners or viewers notice
320 kbps MP3 sits near the identical end for ordinary listening; it is the bitrate people mean when they say best-quality MP3.

Questions

Why MP3 rather than M4A for a demo?

Reach. M4A sounds slightly better per bit, but MP3 is the one format you never have to think about. For a demo going to unknown players, that certainty wins.

What bitrate should a demo use?

320 kbps unless the mail system objects to the size; 192 kbps stays clean for most material and is a third smaller.

Can I cut the count-in before converting?

Yes. Start and end trim points are under More options, in seconds.

Does any audio get uploaded?

No. The conversion is entirely local; verify it in your browser's network tab if you like.
