Audio limiter: louder without clipping
A lookahead limiter, live in your browser: add up to 24 dB of gain while every peak stops at the ceiling you set. In plain words — a volume booster that can't distort. Nothing is uploaded.

Phone recordings, downloaded lectures and old rips often play far too quietly — you turn the volume to maximum and still lean in. Simply amplifying such a file clips the loudest moments and turns them to crunch, which is why the honest tool for the job is a limiter: it raises the whole file by the gain you choose, then its lookahead catches the handful of peaks that would have clipped and eases just those down. The result is a louder file — a volume boost, in plain words — with no distortion and no audible pumping. You get the real controls: input gain, ceiling, release and character, all live while the file plays. Everything runs in the browser tab; nothing is uploaded. Save as WAV, or pick MP3, M4A, FLAC or OGG.
Questions
What does a limiter actually do?
It is a very fast compressor with an infinite ratio: everything below the ceiling passes untouched, and anything that would cross it is caught by the lookahead and turned down for just that instant. That is what lets you add serious gain without clipping.
What if I boost more than the recording can take?
The limiter holds every peak at −1 dB no matter how far you push. At extreme settings the loudest moments get gently squeezed rather than crunchy.
Will it make the hiss louder too?
Yes — gain raises everything, including background noise. A recording that is mostly hiss gets louder hiss; this tool does not separate noise from signal.
Should I use this or loudness normalizing?
Use the booster when one file is simply too quiet. Use Normalize audio when several files should end up at the same standard loudness.
