Documentation lives in Markdown and figures live in spreadsheets, and moving numbers between them by hand invites errors. This conversion renders each sheet of a workbook as a Markdown table, cell values as displayed, one table per sheet in order. Formulas contribute their results, not their formulas; formatting and charts stay behind. The output pastes into READMEs, wikis and pull requests, where tables can finally be diffed. Workbooks are parsed locally, given what they usually contain.
Questions
How do formulas convert?
As their computed values, which is what a document should show. The live formula stays in the workbook where it belongs.
What about very wide sheets?
They convert; Markdown tables get unwieldy past a dozen or so columns, which is a rendering reality worth knowing before pasting.
For serious spreadsheet work?
Cleaning, joining and filtering belong in the Data workspace, which handles large files. This route is for putting figures into prose.
