FLAC and WAV hold the same audio; the difference is packaging. Some software only reads the plain kind: audio editors from another era, CD burning tools, hardware samplers, DJ gear with a short list of formats. This page unpacks the FLAC into a standard 16-bit WAV at the source's own sample rate, in your browser. Because FLAC is lossless, the WAV is a perfect copy of the original recording, only around twice the size.

A perfect unpack: the WAV is the original recording, just without the compression.

Questions

Do I lose quality going FLAC to WAV?

No. FLAC is lossless, so the WAV contains exactly the samples the FLAC held. This direction is a pure repackaging.

What happens to the tags and cover art?

They are not carried over, because WAV has no widely supported place for them. Keep the FLAC if the metadata matters to you.

Which sample rate does the WAV use?

The FLAC's own. A 44.1 kHz FLAC becomes a 44.1 kHz WAV; a 96 kHz one stays at 96. Nothing is resampled.

Does the file leave my computer?

No. Decoding happens in your browser and the WAV is written straight to your disk.

If the destination is a CD, most burners want 44.1 kHz; a 48 kHz file is resampled by the burner on import.
