Turn a WebP into a JPG that opens anywhere
Saved an image and your editor refuses it? JPG restores compatibility with every tool ever written.

Images saved from the web increasingly arrive as WebP, and then an old photo editor, a government uploader or an office template refuses the format. JPG ends the argument: everything opens it. The conversion decodes the WebP and re-encodes at quality 85, effectively identical on screen. Transparency, if the WebP has it, becomes white, since JPG has none; images that need their transparency should head to PNG instead.
Questions
Why do some programs still reject WebP?
The format is young by software standards; tools that stopped updating before it spread simply never learned it.
Is quality lost in the conversion?
A little, as with any recompression of a lossy image. At quality 85 the difference stays invisible in normal use.
My WebP has a transparent background. Now what?
JPG will fill it white. Convert to PNG instead if the transparency matters.
